All homeowners should install some form of security system in their home, and there are three things which would qualify as a security system that can be done easily: A fire extinguisher and a fire alarm are the two easily placed of the three security system options a homeowner can implement. The third and arguably the most common and most important type of security system include fire alarms. Fire alarms are designed to alert a homeowner in the event that a fire could be present, and it does this by detecting smoke in a variety of ways, depending on the type of fire alarms installed.

In 1890, the first fire alarm security system was invented by Fernando J. Dibble and Francis Robbins Upton. Initially, they were not available widely, and the technology upon which it was designed was somewhat faulty. Over time, this fire alarm security system was modified, and they would eventually become ready for the public by the 1960s. This was because of a huge price drop; prior to that, only the wealthy businesses were able to have them. By 1967, home fire alarms became a reality with battery power for better and easier installation, bringing the price down to an affordable level that work for people even today.

The home fire alarm security system is certainly an improvement as far as home safety is concerned because it provides a good amount of time for someone living with one to have a fair amount of time to react in the event that a fire occurs somewhere inside of the house. This security system has, to date, become an invaluable part of a home, having saved countless homes and lives.
